Pirate the French Bulldog Puppy

Today was a great day! I got to photograph eight week old Pirate, a French Bulldog puppy. He was just brought home from breeder CuteUglyBulldogs in Powhatan, Virginia. With nine years of experience photographing newborn babies, and a love for dogs, this was right up my alley.

My family is a foster family for Richmond Animal Care & Control in the City of Richmond. We have fostered dozens and dozens of dogs for them, and I often take professional pictures of them to help them get adopted more quickly. Works every time! So how to prepare for photographing a new puppy? Make sure to have pee pads ready and lots of prop options. I wanted to be prepared in case he was very active and moving around, with things like a large vintage bucket to keep him contained and safe. Turns out I didn’t need any of those things, he slept like a baby the entire time.
